Happy Tails

Meet some of our rescues

Every dog has a story. And these are the ones that found their happy ending.

LOKI: THE DOG WHO STARTED IT ALL

One abandoned dog. One promise to bring him home. The beginning of Hope4Paws.

Loki had been thrown from a moving car.

His paw pads were torn and raw, yet somehow, he still tried to run after the vehicle. Crying and desperate, he chased the people who had abandoned him, unable to understand why they were leaving him behind.

Eventually, his little body could take no more.
Loki collapsed in the road, exhausted, severely dehydrated and in terrible pain beneath the relentless heat. Someone moved him into a derelict house to help, but his cries could still be heard echoing through the surrounding streets.

For Michelle, the sound was impossible to forget.

“It wasn’t just a cry. It was a scream. In that moment, something inside me shifted. I knew I had to help him. I had to get him home.”

With the unwavering support of her husband, Gary, Michelle made that promise a reality. Loki was rescued and brought to safety.

But his story did not end there.

Saving Loki opened Michelle’s eyes to the countless other dogs who were suffering, abandoned or simply waiting for someone to notice them. What began with one frightened, injured dog became a determination to keep helping whenever and wherever possible.

That was the beginning of Hope4Paws.

Today, Loki still lives with Michelle and Gary, surrounded by love and sharing his home with their other rescue dogs, Bailey, Mila, Leon and Ted. The dog who was once left alone and injured in the road is now safe, cherished and an important part of the family.

Every Hope4Paws rescue traces its beginnings back to him.

Loki was the first life changed by a promise not to look away – and, in return, he changed everything.

From nervous first days to confident new beginnings, these stories show what happens when a dog is given the chance to feel safe, loved and understood. Each one is a reminder that rescue changes lives. Not just for the dog, but for the people who welcome them home.

OSO

Great experience with Hope4Paws. Michelle was incredibly helpful and so amazing to us all the time.

Communication was great and the transport arrangements from Pet Taxi too. We were very scared because it was a long journey for our Oso Bear but honestly, we can’t express how grateful we are for the care and attention he received.

We are eternally grateful to all the team. Irene in Spain is incredible as well. We still keep on touch to this day and I send them pictures and updates. We cannot imagine our life without Oso now!!!!

ROCKY

We adopted our loving boy last July after discovering the charity by chance. Michelle was amazing – answering all my questions and helping us find the perfect fit. As soon as we saw him, we knew he was ours.

We faced a scary setback when Defra detained the pet taxi for unknown reasons, but H4P and his godfather supported us every step of the way and fought to get him home safely – we’re so grateful.

He’s the best decision we’ve ever made. Thank you, Hope4Paws!

BRODIE

Brodie, a 3-year-old Brittany Spaniel, started life in Spain with an uncertain future. Like so many rescue dogs, he was simply waiting for the right person to notice him, to choose him, and to give him the chance he deserved.

That moment came when one of our UK volunteers spotted him online.

There was something about Brodie. Calm, gentle, and quietly confident, he stood out straight away, a very good boy just waiting for his next chapter to begin. After completing the adoption process, he made the journey from Spain to the UK, leaving behind the unknown and heading towards a home of his own.

When he arrived, it didn’t take long to realise this wasn’t just another successful adoption.

The connection was immediate. Brodie settled in with ease, bringing with him a steady, affectionate presence that quickly made him part of the family.

Now, he’s right where he belongs.

Whether he’s out exploring the countryside or resting comfortably after a long walk, Brodie has embraced his new life completely. The uncertainty he once faced has been replaced with routine, care, and the simple comfort of knowing he’s home.

Brodie’s story is a quiet reminder of what adoption can do; not just for the dogs who need it, but for the people who welcome them in.
